Historical Sew Fortnightly – Challenge 1

The Challenge: Make Due and Mend

I lost 95 pounds last year, so I have lots of clothing to re-make. This skirt is a favorite. I wear it to work.

Fabric: Wool, lining

Pattern: Folkware “Walking Skirt” #209

Year: Victorian/Edwardian

Notions: Hook and Eye

How historically accurate is it? Pretty accurate. I didn’t use a zipper. It has a placket in the back.

Hours to complete: 2. I removed the waistband, made the skirt narrower and added invisible pockets. Then I put the waistband back on.

First worn: About 10 years ago.

Total cost: $0.00, This was reduced in size, so it didn’t take any more material.
